Ailish is ADOS trained and is a Consultant Occupational Therapist to several schools with ASD units. She is also a Consultant on the Advisory Panel of the Down Syndrome Centre, and is a fully insured member of the Occupational Therapy governing body - AOTI. Ailish works with a wide variety of children with physical, sensory, ASD and intellectual abilities. She works in a holistic manner with families and schools, combining current best-practice with traditional OT approaches. During her 35 years as an Occupational Therapist, Ailish has worked with a wide range of children. Ailish uses a range of standardised assessments to assess children’s needs and formulate OT programmes in conjunction with parents and teachers. She applies a forensic approach to occupational therapy, promoting skills for home, school and leisure, and prepares SENO and Department of Education OT Reports to assist children’s resource needs. Techniques include sensory profiling, gross and fine-motor assessments, visual perception assessments, clinical observations and parent/ teacher participation.
